3. Morgan RFC History (1970s to present)

Of course, Things changed forever in 1973 when Scotland was the first of the home nations to introduce league rugby. Prior to then, rugby consisted of friendly fixtures and local cup competitions. Morgan FPs started off in Division 5 East and whilst the club experienced mixed fortunes over the years, it did enjoy some success in more recent times.

Starting in 2002, Morgan FPs won promotion in five successive seasons moving them from Division 5 East up to premier3, winning three Championships in that time and also two National Bowl finals in 2006 and 2007. To date, Morgan FPs remain the only club to retain the Bowl.

In 2008 the club celebrated its 75th anniversary at a black-tie dinner held at the Innvercarse Hotel, Dundee, and was delighted to welcome the incumbent Scotland Coach Frank Hadden as the main speaker. As a happy coincidence, Frank was accompanied by his uncle Frank Anderson who was a member of the Morgan team of 1934.
