It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Gavin Garden. He was very much a club stalwart for Dundee High FPs playing for and serving the club for over 50 years.
He was club secretary for most of that time and was part of the committee that drove the club from Division 7 to Division 1 of Scottish Rugby. He also served as a club rep on the SRU club league forum at various levels.
Beyond rugby, Gavin was also secretary/treasurer of the Athletic Union at Mayfield for many years as well as the FP Cricket Club. Gavin was very much part of the fixture and fittings at Mayfield supporting the rugby club, doing clubhouse repairs, managing the bar and enjoying a pint or a G&T.
He really was Mr Mayfield for so many years and will be very sadly missed. Our condolences as a club have been passed on to his wife Jacqui.
A minute’s silence will be held at Mayfield before our game tomorrow against Peebles on Saturday 18 October, in honour of Gavin.
