Match Preview: Dundee need win to ease pressure
Extract from The Courier & Advertiser (Fife Edition)15 Dec 2023 BY GARY HEATLY
Dundee Rugby know a positive result tomorrow against Melrose in National One is crucial before the festive break.
Last weekend’s loss to GHK left Dundee well and truly in a relegation battle and they are just two points above the club who beat them at the bottom of the standings.
Dundee are hosting third-placed Melrose at Mayfield to finish their 2023 fixtures while GHK are away to leaders Ayr.
With Melrose heading north off the back of a good win over Highland and Ayr in with a chance of clinching the title, both sides will be up against it, but any points picked up will be important.
The Dundee squad is looking fairly settled for the meeting with the Borderers and head coach
Alan Brown said: “We are disappointed after last week as we let ourselves down in an important game, but we have chatted things over and we know this weekend is the first of four home games out of five that we have left.
“None of the games will be easy and we need to improve across the park to get a win or at the very least a try bonus point or a losing bonus point against Melrose.”
Dundee Valkyries could clinch the women’s Caledonia Midlands/East One title on Sunday with a win over Grangemouth Stagettes.
