A wet and physical afternoon at Mayfield, but the Dundee men dug deep to secure a strong home win over Kirkcaldy.
Dundee got off to a flying start with early tries from Lachlan Graham, Callum Nicol, and Daniel Dixon, with Nicol and Evan Taylor adding the extras to put the home side 19–0 up inside 20 minutes. Kirkcaldy fought back with two scores of their own, but James Mair and Graham kept the scoreboard ticking for Dundee, giving the men a solid 31–14 lead at half time.
The second half saw more pressure from the visitors, but Dundee kept their composure. Two penalties from Callum Nicol stretched the gap, before Nicol added another try and conversion to underline a top performance with the boot.
Even down to 14 men after a yellow card, Dundee rallied again in the closing stages. With the crowd urging them on, Paul Ritch crashed over for the final try of the day, converted by Nicol, sealing the win in style.
